Bay Choral Guild’s 2010-2011 Concert Season: “Celebrating the Art of Unaccompanied Singing”
Bay Choral Guild Presents:
Pacific Passions: Music by West Coast Composers
March 18, 19, 20, 2011
BCG explores exciting trends in 21st century choral composition with this program of exquisite contemporary music. The pieces are set to wide-ranging texts by poets from Michelangelo and St. Francis of Assisi to Pablo Neruda and Ken Rexroth and offer a unique view of how each composer uses music to give an audible dimension to the different poems and texts.
The entire program is listed below. Read the program notes by artistic director Sanford Dole for more information about these works. You can also download the entire set of composer comments on their works as well as click on the composers’ names below to visit their web sites.
As a unique opportunity for audience members to meet our composers face to face, BCG will hold a Composer Reception on Saturday, March 19, after the San Francisco concert.
